About company

PEAB is one of the largest construction and civil engineering companies in the Nordics. With over 13,000 employees across Sweden,Norway, Finland, and Denmark, PEAB combines the strength of a large corporation with the agility of a local partner. Their operations are grounded in practical, hands-on work, and they emphasize using local resources whenever possible.

About project

PEAB Industri Oy, part of PEAB group, partnered with Zure to build a new integration platform using Azure technologies. The goal was to replace outdated batch processes with a scalable, trigger-based architecture that could evolve with the business.

Modern, event-driven platform
Replaced legacy batch-based integrations with a scalable, Azure-based solution supporting real-time data flows.

Rapid delivery with a lean team
20–30 integrations delivered in just three months, with the first ones in production within a month of project kickoff.

Reliable and future-ready
Improved integration reliability and monitoring, with a foundation in place for dynamic, locally managed integrations.

The Challenge

The collaboration between PEAB Industri and Zure began when PEAB Industri’s existing integration platform was nearing the end of its technical life. While some integrations were handled by the PEAB group’s Integration Competence Center, the group’s central integration team, others were specific to local operations. PEAB Industri wanted to take ownership of these local needs.

Having already worked with Zure on several successful projects, the company saw a natural fit and decided to move forward with a new integration initiative.

"We wanted to move from old batch processes to faster, message-based integrations. For example, when a new customer is added to our sales system, that information should be immediately available in our logistics system. Now we have the capability for trigger-based integrations."

Antti Huhta, Service Manager, PEAB Industri

The Implementation

The project started and quickly gained momentum. Within just three months, the team had implemented 20 to 30 integrations. The first ones were already in production after only a month. The solution was built using Azure components, with no additional licensing costs. PEAB only pays for what they use.

Zure’s templated integration platform and tight collaboration model enabled rapid delivery. Weekly check-ins with PEAB Industri ensured that priorities were aligned. A small, focused team delivered high-quality results efficiently.

"The project has gone well. We’ve been able to proceed at a steady pace without overloading our own team. The cooperation with Zure has been smooth throughout."

Antti Huhta

Service Manager, PEAB Industri

The Results

The new platform has already replaced nearly all legacy integrations, with only one remaining. Reliability has significantly improved, and the foundation is now in place for building new integrations in a more agile and scalable way.

Internal feedback has highlighted the need for improved monitoring capabilities. Updates to the monitoring platform are already in progress, giving PEAB Industri better visibility and control over their integrations.

Challenges Overcome Along the Way

While the project progressed well overall, some technical challenges did arise. For example, when dealing with large volumes of data, such as payroll information, the team had to adjust their approach. In some cases, they reverted to batch processing to maintain performance, especially when surrounding systems could not support newer integration methods.

Despite these challenges, the project stayed close to its original timeline. The collaboration was smooth, and PEAB Industri appreciated Zure’s flexibility and responsiveness.

Plans for the Future

The work is ongoing. PEAB Industri is now focusing on developing its own capabilities to trigger integrations dynamically. The goal is to move further toward a real-time, data-driven environment, where new records automatically initiate data flows across systems.
