About project
Since the launch of Kuusakoski’s renewed Customer Portal, there has been an influx of new users, resulting in an influx of orders. Kuusakoski required a way to track the processing of their user data, their users’ orders, and order statuses. Our solution? An Integration Platform; more specifically, Zure’s Integration Platform.
Our pre-built Integration Platform allows customers like Kuusakoski to take control of costs while maintaining robust monitoring and oversight, all without vendor lock-in.
Our Integration Platform users benefit from:
- Seamless data transfer: Messages move between multiple systems via a single platform, with no licensing fees; only usage-based Microsoft PaaS resources.
- Guaranteed security: Built following Microsoft best practices and compliant with cloud governance standards.
- Extensibility: Supports any integration partners using standard interfaces and protocols.
- Full transparency: End-to-end visibility into data flows.
- Customization: Flexible data models ensure compatibility and rapid onboarding of new stakeholders.
- Openness: No vendor lock-in due to the use of standardized tools and Microsoft Azure resources.
About the Platform
In Kuusakoski's case, the Integration Platform provides a company-wide solution for integrations. Designed to be extendable, the platform allows future integrations to be easily added or removed without affecting existing ones. It can also receive, transform, and output data in multiple ways.
The Integration Platform consists of five main components:
- Source Systems
- Inbound Integrations
- Integration Hub
- Outbound Integrations
- Destination Systems

For Kuusakoski, it currently supports three integrations:
- Customer Data
- Orders
- Order Status
Due to Kuusakoski’s ERP being built on legacy technology, there was still a requirement for manual triggers. In layman's terms, a member of Kuusakoski’s customer service team would press a button at the end of the day, sending all sales tool data; such as customer details, locations, and order updates to the ERP. The Integration Platform would then retrieve this data from the ERP, resulting in a mass data retrieval once a day.

This presented a challenge: identifying new or changed data within the bulk retrieval. Thankfully, the Integration Hub is smart enough to pick a needle out of a haystack, sending only the new or modified data to the destination systems.
Since we were working with both legacy technology integrations and the renewed Customer Portal, end-to-end testing was a slow and meticulous process. However, through close collaboration and open communication with Kuusakoski’s IT team, we successfully delivered and launched the solution.

Further developments are still planned. Kuusakoski is set to implement a monitoring dashboard that will provide an overview and statistics of errors, ensuring even greater operational efficiency in the future.
