Hello Maisa! You work as an Azure Data Engineer at Zure. I have some questions for you about your experience of being a Zurean so let’s go!
At Zure, community is a priority, and this is reflected in our daily activities. There are always people around the office, and colleagues genuinely want to come in and connect with one another. Even our regular events, like Zureday, have become community gatherings where everyone comes to the office, and we enjoy lunch together.
People want to be part of a safe and welcoming work environment where everyone has a place. This is also evident in our hobby clubs and coffee breaks, where we play foosball or Magic: The Gathering.
It’s perfectly fine if you don’t know everything — we’re here to learn new technologies together and to collaborate on solving problems. We tackle challenges as a team, and no one is left alone. No one is expected to know everything right away.
One of the biggest reasons for joining Zure was the opportunity to develop my own skills in the areas I wanted to work in, outside of client projects. At Zure, we prioritize continuous skill development and encourage this through various opportunities. As part of our training benefits, we have an annual budget of 800 €, which can be used for seminars, literature or anything that supports personal growth.
It’s important for us to learn together and share knowledge so that no one becomes isolated in their areas of expertise. To facilitate this, we have minicodes — 30-minute presentations on various topics. Additionally, each unit has its own guild to bring people together and dedicate time to explore and test new tools. The guilds meet at least once a month, and everyone is welcome to join and learn. In my experience, this approach reduces fragmentation and promotes cross-functional collaboration.
Zure’s values include a strong sense of community and a passion for personal development. People want to come to the office and work together. Some even want to spend time with colleagues outside of work hours, which is why we have a variety of hobby groups, e.g., board game club, afterwork club and Magic the Gathering club which are actually active! Zure’s values also include the freedom to express concerns and the opportunity to suggest areas for improvement. It’s easy to influence our culture and ways of working because we don’t have to deal with unnecessary bureaucracy.
Here, it’s possible to have a real impact on how things are done. For example, my first week at Zure, I identified an area for improvement and brought it up with our Data Lead. A few days later, our CEO informed me that the issue had been resolved based on my suggestion.
At Zure, it’s also important to offer employees the flexibility to organize their work in a way that fits their lives and minimizes unnecessary obstacles.
If you’re looking for a workplace that offers a healthy work-life balance and values you more than just a resource, and as a valued member of the community, this company is the right fit for you.
