Our data week is coming to an end. That means it’s time for our data architect Samu to give you a glimpse of his life and work here at Zure. Samu has done everything between data modeling and report designing. Currently, he works as a data architect designing data-related solutions on top of Azure, making data as valuable as possible for customers.
I was born and raised in the mighty city of Kouvola. I tried other places in the past but the bar was set too high so I came back to the best place in the world. I´ve worked with data in various roles and business areas throughout my career for the past ten years. Besides Kouvola, I Wouldn´t change my job for anything else either.
It depends. If I’m working at home, we usually start the morning with the hassle of getting my son to daycare. If I’m going to the office, I’ll jump on the train where I either relax listening to podcasts or work. Both morning rituals have their pros and cons. 😀
My morning rituals are the only recurring elements of my work week. The other part could be planning and presenting internal training, working with a client project with the team, or learning new things around the coffee machine. Or something else entirely, which is one of the many things I like about working at Zure!
I have never watched any episode of Game of Thrones and most likely never will.
Always be yourself unless you can be Batman. Then always be Batman!
From the first meeting with Zure, I felt that there was something different compared to previous places I have worked in. That feeling took me here and I have to say that it hasn’t disappointed me. If you feel that there could be an alternative way to work in the IT sector, reach out! You get the idea quickly by talking with the people about how Zure operates, and it reflects well in the everyday work in the company.
It has to be the culture and the people. I’m a firm believer in that if the atmosphere in the workplace is supporting and encouraging, it will push individuals to be a better version of themselves. Having the support and knowing that colleagues have your back in these situations lowers the bar for orientation to new areas. Sometimes exploring new and unknown things might go south but you always learn from them.
Although I work more with molding data and getting it in a usable format, I enjoy it most when presented intuitively. One great example is watching live flight radar tracking on FlightRadar24 and getting dazed every time seeing how many planes are in the sky all the time in just Europe alone. It also quickly draws you to check what kinds of planes are flying where and what the routes are between cities. Be warned; this might take hours of your life!
