Hello again and welcome back! Today we will get to know Senior Consultant Mikko Itämäki during our #Whoseday. Are you ready? Hopefully, because that’s where it starts!
Mikko has been working with Microsoft cloud and on-premises technologies for his whole career. In recent years he has helped companies to modernize their infrastructure/environments with cloud technologies. The aim is to find more efficient and scalable ways to do things without forgetting security and cost-efficiency. Mikko has also a lot of experience in securing the high availability of business-critical systems and infrastructures.
🌏 Where do you come from?
I’ve been working with Azure and other Microsoft cloud technologies for about 10 years now. I have also a long infrastructure and datacenter background before shifting completely to Azure and M365. Generally, I’ve always been a really tech-savvy person whether it is; audio/DJ equipment, cameras, software, servers, or something like home automation. This is probably the reason why I ended up in the IT business in general!
🎙 Why Zure as an employer?
I had worked with several Zure guys before and knew how much this company is appreciated in the industry. I was really excited to get an opportunity to join Zure! In my opinion, if you really want to develop yourself whether it is a hobby or work-related stuff the best way to do that is to work or train with people who are really good at what they do. I knew that working at Zure would push me to the next level on the things I’m interested in like Azure & DevOps to name a few. When I went “public” with the information about my new employer I received a lot of positive messages saying that Zure will be a very good fit for me!
🦸 You have started at Zure during Covid. Was it difficult to get to know your co-workers and actually start working?
I have to admit that it has been a lot different than usual for obvious reasons like long remote work periods. Still, I feel like Zure has a very good community. The support and help you get from day one is awesome!
☕️ Where do you get strength for your work week?
A good combination of learning some new stuff, interesting projects/problems to solve and I’m quite all right. If I can get a cup of coffee and good music on that’s always a plus!
🍕 Your new (or old) covid-19 hobby?
I collected almost all of the very popular covid-19 hobbies. I started ice swimming and learning the art of pizza making at home. I even ended up as a pizza oven owner! Barbequing was one of my hobbies before covid-19 but after the restrictions that went to another level as well.
